Better as stock than as wallpaper

Honestly assessed, food photography makes mediocre wallpaper and good stock imagery. A plated dish is a strong central subject on a shallow depth of field — visually appealing, but it puts the focal point exactly where your desktop icons want to be, and it does not hold up as something you look at all day.

Warm grading and white balance

Food photography is almost universally graded warm, because warm tones read as appetising. If you are placing these on a site with a cool colour scheme, that warmth can clash badly — worth checking against your palette before committing to one.

What to check before commercial use

Our licence covers the image. It does not cover recognisable branding that happens to appear in a shot — a labelled bottle, a branded cup, a logo on packaging. If you are using one of these commercially, check the frame for trademarks first.
