A small general-purpose portrait collection. If you are on an iPhone, the dedicated iPhone collection is larger and composed for that lock-screen layout specifically — this page is the broader catch-all, and Android screens are its main audience.
Android screen sizes vary more than iPhone
Where Apple ships a handful of panel sizes, Android spans everything from 720x1600 budget devices to 1440x3200 flagships. That makes a single recommendation impossible, so the practical rule is: find your phone's screen resolution in Settings, then pick a wallpaper at or above it. Every page here lists exact dimensions before you download.
Aspect ratio matters as much as resolution
Modern phones run tall — 19.5:9 and 20:9 are common — while a lot of older portrait imagery is 16:9. Setting a 16:9 image on a 20:9 screen means the launcher crops the top and bottom, often removing exactly the part you wanted. Taller source images give the system room to position rather than cut.
Scrolling wallpapers
Many Android launchers scroll the wallpaper horizontally as you move between home screens, which means they need an image wider than the screen. If yours does this and your wallpaper looks cropped or jumps as you swipe, either pick a wider image or turn the scrolling effect off in launcher settings.
Frequently asked questions
What resolution should an Android wallpaper be?
Check your screen resolution in Settings, then pick a wallpaper at or above it. Android spans 720x1600 to 1440x3200 across devices, so there is no single answer — but every page here lists exact dimensions before you download.
Why does my wallpaper get cropped at the top and bottom?
Your phone is probably taller than the image. Modern screens are 19.5:9 or 20:9 while a lot of portrait imagery is 16:9, so the launcher crops to fit. A taller source image gives it room to position instead of cut.
